FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY

AND

FORENSIC EVALUATIONS

A Forensic Evaluation is a comprehensive evaluation which provides objective data regarding the individual's physical capacity, and establishes a physical demand level. The evaluation documents the patient's ability to perform a job from a physical, medical, behavioral and ergonomic perspective. PMPT  computerized  system used at CHART has over 100 validity criteria incorporated into the evaluation to determine a patient's maximum or sub-maximum effort.

Evaluations include the following procedures:

Forensic Evaluations may include Job Specific and General profiles. Job specific evaluations incorporate tests for the critical work demands (for individual returning to a specific job). A job analysis is required prior to the evaluation. General evaluations are for individuals with no specific job to return to, or in the process of reclassifying. A wide range of general activities is tested to determine the level of function.

Evaluation requires approximately five to six hours. Preliminary musculoskeletal evaluation proceeds all testing. Objective data is furnished in a multi-paged, detailed report, including test situations and the patient's response, physical limitations, restrictions, and recommendations. Test data may also be used to determine an individual's ability to perform essential job functions as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
